Joachim Low is the right man to lead Arsenal forward next season instead of current manager Arsene Wenger, Standard Sport readers have voted.

Even the most ardent critic of Wenger’s recent run of poor form would have to admit that the list of candidates open to Arsenal is hardly bursting with world-class coaching talent.

Three Champions League-winning managers, Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Rafa Benitez, have been snapped up in recent months.

Massimiliano Allegri and Diego Simeone seem firmly ensconced in sides far more likely to challenge for European trophies.

Low still has two years left on his contract with the German national team and would be unlikely to make a decision on his future until after the European Championships.

But the World Cup winner is among the favourites to replace Wenger, and 68 per cent of Standard Sport readers who voted in Tuesday's poll of the day would rather see Low in charge of the Gunners next term.

Some of those opinions may change should Arsenal achieve the improbable feat of managing to overturn a 2-0 Champions League deficit at Barcelona on Wednesday.

However, on Tuesday Barca's Treble-winning coach Luis Enrique labelled Wenger "the chosen one" in terms of the Gunners' history - food for thought for disgruntled Arsenal fans.
