Marco Verratti and Ander Herrera claim Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers allegedly told Paris Saint-Germain players to “f*** off” as they lost their heads at the Etihad.

Without the injured Kylian Mbappe, PSG crashed out of the Champions League with a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Angel Di Maria was sent off in the second half for a petulant stamp on Fernandinho and Presnel Kimpembe was fortunate to escape a red card for a reckless challenge on Gabriel Jesus as PSG let their frustration boil over at the end.

Kuipers handed out a flutter of yellow cards to PSG players and Verratti and Herrera were unhappy with the official.

Verratti told French TV station RMC: “The referee said to ‘me f*** you’. If we say that, we get banned for 10 matches."

Herrera said: “The referee tonight said ‘f*** off’ to Leandro Paredes. If we say that we get a three or four match ban.”

Man City matchwinner Riyad Mahrez felt PSG “lost their nerve”.

He told BT Sport: “They lost their nerve and started to kick us. And after the red card it was more comfortable.”
