‘Ravel Morrison has West Ham future’

Charged: Ravel Morrison is accused of two counts of assault

Sam Allardyce insisted today Ravel Morrison has not played his last game for West Ham despite letting the controversial midfielder join Queens Park Rangers on loan.

The 21-year-old was one of the club’s best performers during the first half of the season and even tipped as an outsider for England’s World Cup squad.

But Morrison has not appeared for West Ham since last month and that has frustrated Allardyce, who believes he could have played through a groin injury.

Allardyce refused today to elaborate on the reasons for letting the midfielder leave.

“I’m not answering questions about Ravel because he is not with us any more,” he said. “We’ve done a deal with QPR, we’re playing against Southampton on Saturday and my focus is the squad of players I’ve got.

“The fact is Ravel wanted to play some first-team football but wasn’t getting as much here as he wanted so we’ve let him go out on loan.

“Our consistent performances and recent acquisitions have given us a bigger squad and Ravel has found it a bit more difficult to get in. We move on to Southampton with the players we’ve got.”

When asked if Morrison had played his last game for West Ham, Allardyce responded: “No!”
