Robin Van Persie’s cameo a boost for Arsenal

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie took another step towards full fitness when he came off the bench last night as Holland beat Turkey 1-0.

The 27-year-old has made just one substitute appearance for the Gunners since August but could now be in contention for Saturday's north London derby.

He said: "It's nice to be back. It all went well. I was not troubled by the match, everything went to plan."
