Roy Hodgson has heaped praise on the Crystal Palace fans for their dedication during the dramatic 2-2 draw with West Ham.

Across most Premier League grounds, with the home side having put in a frustrating performance and trailing deep into injury time, many would expect stands to be almost empty and most certainly quiet.

At Selhurst Park on Saturday, however, the stands were full and boisterous to the final minute when Wilfried Zaha fired a 96th-minute equaliser past Joe Hart to take a vital point from the Hammers.

Speaking after the game, Hodgson praised the fans and called on them to continue their support as they battle against relegation.

"It’s a very important day for the football club, all of us who work at the football club with regard to the fans because I don’t think I’ve very often been involved in a football match which goes to the 95th, 96th minute - with the home team losing - and have virtually nobody leave the stadium.

"Then to have the players cheered off the field, the way they were cheered off the field that speaks volumes really for our fans.

"If we are going to survive this season in the next 28 games we’re going to need that help time and time again. We got it against Chelsea and we got it again today."

The next trip for the Palace support is to Wembley Stadium to face Tottenham, where Hodgson will be hoping both the fans and players can create another day to remember.
