Roy Hodgson has admitted Wilfried Zaha limping off with a hamstring injury was “worrying”, but the Crystal Palace boss remains hopeful it will not end the winger’s season.

Zaha, in only his third match back since missing a month with a groin problem, was forced off early in the second-half in the Eagles’ win over Bournemouth after pulling up, with Odsonne Edouard introduced in his place.

Eberechi Eze continued his superb run of form since Hodgson’s return to the Palace dugout, netting both goals in a 2-0 win that moved the club level on points with Chelsea in 11th.

There is though concern that Zaha could well have played his final match as a Palace player, with the 30-year-old out of contract in the summer and no closer to signing a new deal, despite the Eagles making him a record £200,000-a-week offer.

Speaking after the match, Hodgson confirmed that it was a hamstring injury for Zaha and Palace will now have to wait to see if they have him available for their final two matches of the season.

“Zaha felt his hamstring which is worrying, but we won’t know how serious until he has the scan,” Hodgson told Match of the Day.

“Hopefully it will only take a few days rather than a couple of weeks.”
