As Saturdays of sport go, they don’t come much better than this. The combination of an early Premier League kick-off, a rare evening game, and the start of rugby’s Autumn internationals means British sports fans are in for a near 10-hour back-to-back feast this weekend, without needing to leave the sofa.
It all kicks off on BT Sport at 12:30, when Jose Mourinho takes his under pressure Manchester United side to in-form Bournemouth, who currently sit three points above their more esteemed visitors.
Taking a break from football, fans can switch over to Sky Sports Main Event for England vs South Africa from Twickenham, as Eddie Jones’ injury-plagued squad continue their preparations for next year’s Rugby World Cup.
Back on BT at 17:30 there’s a potential thriller at the Emirates as Arsenal, unbeaten in 13 matches in all competitions, host Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in a fixture that finished 3-3 last season.
Then, in a once in a blue moon occurrence, the Premier League offering goes on with a 19:45 kick-off between Tottenham, playing their third game in six days, and Wolves at Molineux.
And that is merely one set of options. If you don’t fancy the Premier League, there’s also Stoke vs Middlesbrough on Sky Sports from 17:15.
On the other hand, if rugby is more your cup of tea, but England are not, then you can catch an all-British affair when Scotland and Wales meet in Cardiff at 14:00 live on BBC One.
It’s also a big day in the world of racing, with the Breeders' Cup live from Kentucky, USA on At The Races on Saturday night, as well as one of the first big meetings of the National Hunt season on these shores, the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby on ITV4.
