Steve Morison ends speculation

Julian Bennetts11 April 2012

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett hailed Steve Morison after the striker signed a new contract until the summer of 2013.

The 27-year-old was integral to last season's promotion and attracted interest from other clubs, having already scored 13 goals in his maiden Championship campaign.

Jackett said: "I'm very pleased Steve has signed a new deal, he is optimistic about his future here and what we are going to do, You always think your phone is going to ring and a Premier League club will come in but that's always the likelihood when you're doing well as a club."

Without Morison, who is sidelined for a fortnight with a leg strain, Millwall beat Doncaster 1-0 thanks to Kevin Lisbie's 90th-minute strike.

Jackett said: "It was a fantastic result, if not a great performance."
