Stoke's Lee Grant: Arsenal are difficult to contain, but 3-1 'flattered' Gunners

Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant believes that while Arsenal's 3-1 win "flattered" the Gunners, Arsene Wenger's team are one of the best teams in the country.

Mark Hughes' Potters took a surprise lead at Emirates Stadium on Saturday as Charlie Adam converted a penalty following Granit Xhaka's elbow foul on Joe Allen.

Theo Walcott equalised before half-time, while Mesut Ozil and Alex Iwobi struck second-half goals to send Arsenal top of the Premier League table.

Despite the defeat - just Stoke's second in their last 10 league matches - Grant felt his side were a little hard done by considering the amount of chances they created in north London.

"Three goals maybe flatters them but they are a good side and played well," he told the club's official website.

"We will be disappointed when we look back across the goals but they are a good side and difficult to contain for a 90-minute period.

"We started brightly and we have that quality to hurt teams, even the best teams, and we showed that. It is probably a sign of how far we have come recently."

Stoke boss Hughes has told BBC Sport of the performance: "We stood up to them and maybe conceding the equaliser before half time lifted them and hurt us more than we thought.

"We had to push the game and look for opportunities at the other end - a lot of teams will struggle to come here and cope with the pace and power Arsenal have at the moment.

"You have to take it on the chin and go again."
