Thibaut Courtois has revealed that his agent is in talks with Chelsea to see if he has permission to talk to other clubs about a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Courtois, who is currently on a third successive season-long loan spell at Atletico Madrid, has two years left on his contract at Chelsea.
The Belgium international has already revealed that he will only return to Jose Mourinho’s side next term if he is assured of regular first team football.
Petr Cech has been Chelsea’s No.1 since he joined the club from Rennes for £7m in 2004 and Mourinho has already suggested that it will stay that way.
Courtois, who has been linked with a permanent move to Atletico and Barcelona, has previously revealed he wants to sort out his future by March.
But the 21-year-old is suggesting his agent is already trying to get an answer from Chelsea over his future.
He said: "I know this, but it depends on Chelsea and what they ask. First, my agent is talking to Chelsea, to ask if I could talk to other clubs. Then we'll know a bit more. Atletico will wait for what Chelsea has to say.
"First, we want to hear from Chelsea what they are going to do and then we'll see."
Courtois is already rated as one of the best keepers in Europe and Chelsea value him in excess of £20m.
