Rock bottom: Fulham have the worst record in the Football League

The majority of Fulham fans appear to have run out of patience with under-pressure manager Felix Magath.

In a survey carried out after Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Reading, more than 90 per cent of supporters said he should be sacked. “The poll shows there is groundswell of support for Magath’s removal,” said Dan Crawford, of the Fulham Supporters’ Trust.

“A lot of people were willing to give him time because this is a new squad, in a new division, and with a lot of young players. But the almost unanimous reaction of the 2,700 travelling fans at Reading was that he should go.” Fulham fans have heard little from American owner Shahid Khan, who has so far backed Magath.

“The owner has to take some responsibility because he oversaw a catastrophic season last season,” said Crawford. “The fans are concerned that we have not heard anything from the owner. We would like to hear what the strategy is and how we are going to go forward. The supporters are giving him a clear message and I do not know if it getting through.

“Another concern is how this is going to affect these young players. The squad still looks unbalanced and there is an alarming lack of senior players.”

Fulham, who are bottom of the Championship, face Nottingham Forest tonight.
