Tottenham have been handed a Premier League title lifeline after Manchester United held Leicester to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Anthony Martial opened the scoring for United with a well-taken finish eight minutes in, but Leicester captain Wes Morgan headed the visitors level just nine minutes later.

Danny Drinkwater saw red in a game full of controversy at either end of the field, but crucially, the draw means Leicester will have to put their title celebrations on hold - for another day at least.

A point for Claudio Ranieri's side sees them move eight points ahead of second-placed Tottenham with two games remaining.

Spurs have three games left, and can cut that lead to five points if they beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening.

Leicester are still heavy favourites to win the title, as Spurs must win their three remaining games and hope Leicester do not pick up a victory against either Everton (May 7) or Chelsea (May 15).

A draw and a defeat for the Foxes in their remaining two games could see Spurs win the title on goal difference if Mauricio Pochettino's men collect maximum points against Chelsea (May 2), Southampton (May 8) and Newcastle (May 15).

Spurs have a goal difference of +39 - nine goals better off than Leicester having played a game less than then Foxes.

Spurs will be without key midfielder Dele Alli for the crucial clash against defending champions Chelsea, with the England international suspended for the rest of the campaign.
