Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker in danger of missing Liverpool game and is a worry for England too

Kyle Walker is losing his battle to recover for Tottenham’s trip to Liverpool on Sunday as he struggles to shake off a pelvic problem.

The right-back has missed the last two matches as well as recent training sessions and, at this stage, it is understood that Spurs are not considering him for the game.

Walker’s struggles are a problem for Spurs, for whom he is an undisputed first choice when fit, and also for England. A healthy Walker would have an excellent chance of being in the final 23-man squad for the World Cup, probably as back up to Glen Johnson.

Tottenham hope Walker will be available for some of the run-in but, until the 23-year-old is clear to train, they cannot put a possible date on his comeback. As they began preparations for Anfield, Spurs were planning to retain Kyle Naughton and Danny Rose in the full-back positions.

There is better news, however, regarding Sandro and Emmanuel Adebayor, both of whom missed the 3-2 win over Southampton on Sunday. Recently returned from injury, Sandro was feeling the strain after playing 70 minutes against Arsenal on March 16 and the full game against Benfica four days later.

After a week’s training, he should be available at Anfield, where his resolve in defensive midfield will be important. Adebayor was keen to play against Southampton but has a cut on his heel. The club’s top scorer is desperate to return and Spurs are confident he can do so.

Meanwhile, Vlad Chiriches has been pencilled in to play for the Under-21 side against Arsenal at White Hart Lane on Friday night. The defender has not played since January due to a back injury.
