Mauricio Pochettino has hailed Tottenham's 4-0 victory over against Stoke City at the Bet 365 Stadium as the 'perfect result.'

Spurs went into the game on the back of an underwhelming start to the season but blew Mark Hughes' men away to extend their unbeaten record to four games.

Heung-min Son starred with two goals, courtesy of superb a pair of Christian Eriksen assists, while Dele Alli opened his account at the end of a counter attacking move.

And Harry Kane put the icing on the cake late on when he tapped home to end his mini drought, notching his 50th Premier League goal in the process.

Pochettino was delighted with his side's performance and believes it was important to lay down a marker as the north Londoners are set to face a difficult run of games.

"I'm very pleased," he told the BBC. "What was most important that we start a very difficult run of seven games in 20 matches with a win.

"It was the perfect result for us.

"After the first 15 minutes we fully deserved the result. I'm delighted for our fans," he told the club's official Twitter feed.

"It's been a good start but it's important to take every game step by step and keep winning!"

Spurs host Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday night and the majority of their players will go into the game in confident mood after sweeping Stoke aside.

However, Mark Hughes' side will feel aggrieved at today's result after Victor Wanyama avoided a second yellow card in the opening stages of the second half for hauling down Giannelli Imbula.
