'Tottenham need a back up striker to Harry Kane' - What does January hold for Spurs?

Tottenham have enjoyed a superb start to the Premier League season.

Although unfavourable pre-season predictions suggested that a top-four challenge was beyond Mauricio Pochettino's side, Spurs are on course to achieve their aim.

The north Londoners forced their way into the Champions League places after their comfortable victory over Southampton last week and have aspirations to stay there.

But what does Pochettino need to do in order to ensure that Spurs do not fade away in the second half of the season?

Harry Kane's form and fitness is vital. Without the England international firing on all cylinders Spurs' front line will be blunt.

What to expect from Tottenham in the January transfer window

Throw in the fact that Clinton N'Jie has been ruled out for two months with a knee injury and the need for a new striker is somewhat obvious.

But finding the right candidate could prove to be a tricky task given that the new arrival has to accept that they will play second fiddle to Kane.

Meanwhile, out of favour midfielder Andros Townsend could be heading towards the White Hart Lane exit, but will Spurs regret not selling the England international during the summer as his value will surely have depreciated after a spell on the bench?
