Tottenham transfer news: Isco confirms he is staying at Real Madrid

Sam Long31 August 2016

Real Madrid midfielder Isco has confirmed he is "staying" in the Spanish capital, despite reports linking him with a move to Tottenham.

Isco has been regularly linked with Spurs in recent days as Mauricio Pochettino is still keen to add to his squad further ahead of the club's second ever Champions League campaign.

But the 24-year-old, who made 31 appearances in La Liga last season, has appeared to pour cold water on reports he could complete a late loan move to White Hart Lane on deadline day.

Isco has been filmed on Spanish television declaring "I'm staying, I'm staying" when questioned over his future, which seems to end speculation surrounding his immediate future.

The Spain international joined Madrid from Malaga on a five-year contract in 2013 but is yet to fulfill his potential at the Bernabeu.

Zinedine Zidane has a wealth of options at his disposal and Isco is yet to solidify a place in the Frenchman's starting line up but is set to stay put and fight for regular game time this season.

Spurs, meanwhile, could still bring in reinforcements before tonight's 11pm deadline.
