Tottenham vs Arsenal: As it happened

Flam bae: The midfielder gives Arsenal the lead
James Benge23 September 2015

The first North London derby of the season ended with Arsenal the victors in the third round of the Capital One Cup, the Gunners' celebrating a 2-1 victory over Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side entered the game riding high off the back of three consecutive wins in the league and Europe, a run of form that has left them just one point behind struggling Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger’s side arrived with crisis talk bubbling away amongst fans after back-to-back defeats to Dinamo Zagreb and Chelsea. They could ill-afford a third loss tonight, with disciplinary issues dogging a side who had lost three players in their past two games.

Pochettino was yet to lose a derby game at the Spurs helm and is keen to continue his success in the League Cup, which he reached the final of last season.
