Mousa Dembele is adamant Tottenham "won't try to dream" after climbing to second place in the Premier League table.

Mauricio Pochettino's cut Leicester's lead at the top to just two points after securing a 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Sunday.

Spurs have not lost away from home since the opening day of the season and hope has started to build in regards to an opportunity to lift the title for the first time in 55 years.

Pochettino has repeatedly refused to be drawn on Tottenham's title chances but admitted the club's fans are "right to dream" of silverware due to his side's rich vein of form.

But Dembele is reluctant to get carried away and is determined to remain focused throughout the run-in: "We still have to keep going game by game," he told the club's official website.

"The next match is always important and we’ll see where we end up, but it’s looking very positive for us.

“We won’t try to dream, we’ll just have to stay very concentrated in each game."

Dembele may be keen to keep a level head but he was still delighted to see off Manuel Pellegrini's men in difficult circumstances at the Etihad Stadium.

The Belgian midfielder has hailed the spirit within the Tottenham camp, which he believes has helped boost their ability to churn out results away from the comforts of White Hart Lane.

"It was a difficult match on Sunday but we worked well. It was a big pitch but against a team like City we still played our football.

"As a team we did our job and we’re very happy with the three points. There is such a great vibe in the team and it was an amazing feeling to win like that.

“It’s not only now - we’ve proven that we can win away from home with how we’ve been playing all season," he added.

Spurs travel to Italy to face Fiorentina in the Europa League on Thursday night before hosting Crystal Palace in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
