Tottenham complete Etienne Capoue capture

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of France international Etienne Capoue.

The 25-year-old midfielder moves to White Hart Lane from Ligue 1 side Toulouse, where he made 174 appearances and scored 13 goals.

He was also named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year in 2012 alongside new Spurs team-mate Hugo Lloris.

Capoue (above) has won seven caps for France and becomes Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas's fourth major signing of the summer as he looks to build a squad capable of securing a top-four finish this season.

Despite being primarily a midfielder, Capoue can also operate as a centre-back which could prove useful for Villas-Boas as he is short in that area of the pitch.

Spurs start their new campaign away at newly-promoted Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, but it is unclear whether the Frenchman will be available for selection.
