Quique Sanchez Flores has told Watford supporters they must be patient with club-record signing Ismaila Sarr as he continues to adapt to life in England.
Sarr moved to Vicarage Road on transfer deadline day last month from Rennes for a fee of around £30million.
The 21-year-old, however, has made a slow start to life in England and is yet to start a Premier League match for Watford.
But Flores has urged for the the winger to be given time to adapt as he is still learning English and getting used to his new surroundings.
“Ismaila is a really young player so we need to be patient,” said Flores.
“We need to give support to the player. He is very, very fast and skilful. He is a modern forward and this is a good time for them in football because it is really fast.
“But I think it needs to be little by little with him. He needs to understand. Even with the language, he just speaks French so [Etienne] Capoue is translating every time.
“It is like we have a big circle around him and we need to take care of him.”
After earning a point against Arsenal last weekend, Watford now face a trip to Manchester City on Saturday.
The Hornets lost 6-0 to Pep Guardiola’s side in the FA Cup final in May, but will have been buoyed by watching Norwich City beat them last weekend.
“In football, in life, everything is possible,” Flores added.
“For us, when we are preparing a match during the week, we are not thinking about how tough it is or not.
“For us, every single match is very, very tough. We don’t believe in weak teams. I think every single team in the Premier League, Spain, Italy is very tough.”
