West Ham are carrying out final medical checks on Darren Randolph ahead of the goalkeeper’s £4million return from Middlesbrough.

Randolph, 32, has a hip injury and the Hammers want to be sure he will not be sidelined for a long period.

Should he pass his medical, Randolph, who was at the club between 2015-17, will provide cover for Lukasz Fabianski.

The Republic of Ireland international was first-choice between the posts at Championship Middlesbrough before suffering an injury at the end of November.

West Ham will consider right-back options after Ryan Fredericks was ruled out for at least a month with a hamstring injury, but they are likely instead to give an opportunity to young full-back Ben Johnson as cover for veteran Pablo Zabaleta.

Boss David Moyes is also targeting a central midfielder.
