West Ham move a 'nice fit' for departing Chelsea legend John Terry, insists Ray Wilkins

West Ham represent a "nice fit" for departing Chelsea captain John Terry, according to Ray Wilkins.

Terry has been at the forefront of Chelsea's success in recent years but has confirmed he will leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The 36-year-old is adamant he still has plenty to offer and has been linked to a number of Premier League sides while moves to China and MLS are also understood to remain a possibility.

Hammers manager Slaven Bilic has fuelled speculation he is interested in bringing Terry to London Stadium, despite insisting he already has good cover in central defence.

And Wilkins is convinced a permanent move to West Ham would tick many boxes for Terry and the east Londoners.

"They have been conceding goals left, right and centre and John being an East End boy, that might be a nice fit," Wilkins told Talksport.

"But whether he’d go to another London club is another question. One thing’s for sure, whoever gets him will be getting a proper footballer."

Terry has stressed he remains focused on lifting the Premier League title with Antonio Conte's side this season, despite uncertainty over his long-term future.

The veteran defender has already made enough appearances to secure a winner's medal and is on course to bid farewell to Stamford Bridge with another piece of silverware.
