Alex Song was handed his first West Ham start for the visit of Liverpool in Saturday's evening kick-off.

The former Arsenal man came on against Hull City on Monday but will feature from the start in place of summer addition Mauro Zarate.

For the visitors, Brendan Rodgers opted to give a first start of the new Premier League season to Fabio Borini, who nearly completed a deadline day move away from Anfield, as the Reds boss named four changes to the side which lost at home to Villa.

Raheem Sterling, Martin Skrtel and Lucas are the other new faces, with Adam Lallana, Mamadou Sakho, Lazar Markovic and Philippe Countinho making way.

West Ham: Adrian, Reid, Cresswell, Tomkins, Kouyate, Downing, Sakho, Noble (c), Demel, Song, Valencia

Liverpool: Mignolet, Manquillo, Moreno, Lovren, Skrtel, Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas, Sterling, Borini, Balotelli.
