Manchester City and Wolves shared the spoils in Saturday's early kick-off as the newcomers threatened a major shock in an entertaining 1-1 draw at Molineux.

The hosts were excellent from start to finish and caused Pep Guardiola's men a huge amount of problems in the first-half, catching City out on a number of occasions with a high press executed with such energy.

Nuno Espirito Santo's men thought that their efforts had been rewarded mid-way through the first half as Diogo Jota's cross-come-shot was deflected into the path of Raul Jimenez who tucked the ball home - only to turn away and see the linesman's flag raised.

City created a number of chances with Sergio Aguero and then Raheem Sterling hitting the woodwork in the space of two minutes in the first-half, and if it wasn't hitting the upright, Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio was blocking City's path to goal with a string of fine saves.

The hosts took the lead ten minutes after the break when Willy Boly stole in at the back post to head home from a corner, although replays suggested that the ball may have come off the centre-back's arm as it was bundled into the back of Ederson's net.

But Wolves couldn't hold onto their lead as Nuno's men were pegged back by an Ilkay Gundogen set piece which Aymeric Laporte rose to thump home at the back post.
