Win over Germany is great inspiration for Serbia

10 April 2012

Serbia coach Radomir Antic believes his side's momentous win over Germany will inspire them to greater things.

Serbia produced one of the biggest shocks of the World Cup so far when they stunned the much-fancied Germans 1-0 last Friday.

That result means Serbia will now progress to the second round if they beat Australia in their final Group D match in Nelspruit on Wednesday.

The veteran former Barcelona and Real Madrid coach said: "It was worth it to come here and beat Germany for the first time in 37 years.

"We are a team with character and are never satisfied with our achievements.

"The win was more than just three points and will inspire us to aim for greater heights."

Antic's main selection poser for the Australia clash at the Mbombela Stadium is how many of his booked players to risk.

Defenders Branislav Ivanovic, Nemanja Vidic, Aleksandar Kolarov and Neven Subotic, midfielder Zdravko Kuzmanovic and striker Nikola Zigic are all one yellow card away from a suspension.
