14 April 2012

Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard wants to commit to a new contract with the club.

The England star is one of many top players who is reportedly on the wanted list of new Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

But today Gerrard, who along with his Reds team-mates is preparing to face Thailand in a pre-season friendly in Bangkok tomorrow, claimed he is in his element at Anfield.

He told the club's official website www.liverpoolfc.tv: "I'm happy at Liverpool and the club is happy with me. I'm ready to commit myself to the club's future and I'm sure that's going to happen.

"I've been at Liverpool all my career and never thought about playing for anyone else. All I want to do is concentrate on playing for this club."

Gerrard has two years remaining on his current contract. He came through the ranks at Anfield and turned professional in August 1998.
