Go-ahead for US Grand Prix

13 April 2012

United States Grand Prix chief Tony George today insisted the race would go ahead as planned on 30 September despite Tuesday's terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

"We do not expect any chang e from the announced schedule," said George, president and chief executive of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is due to stage the race.

George's comments came after FIA, the sport's world governing body, said in a carefullyworded statement that the remaining three races of the year would take place.

"There is no plan to cancel the future Grands Prix," said FIA spokeswoman Agnes Kaiser from Monza ahead of Sunday's Italian Grand Prix.
