Guthrie’s so sorry over Fagan break

13 April 2012

Newcastle midfielder Danny Guthrie wants to meet Craig Fagan so he can apologise to the Hull striker for breaking his leg.

It was confirmed last night Fagan suffered a fractured right tibia in the crunching challenge which earned Guthrie a straight red card in the dying moments of Hull's shock 2-1 win at St James' Park.

City's furious manager Phil Brown reacted to the news by instantly calling for the player to be harshly dealt with for his "horrible" tackle which came as Fagan attempted to run down the clock near the corner flag.

But Guthrie insisted he had acted out if character and said: "I was very upset to hear the news concerning Craig. The club have been in touch with Hull on my behalf because I want to speak to Craig in person to apologise and wish him a speedy recovery."
