Hick ton sets up victory

14 April 2012

Graeme Hick's unbeaten 107 was the springboard for Worcestershire's move into the promotion frame in the totesport League with a 70-run win against Division Two leaders Middlesex at New Road.

The former England batsman's 14th century in the competition enabled the home to set a challenging total of 252 for four. Middlesex could only muster 182 as they slumped to their second defeat in four days.

The two sides meet again today in the Frizzell County Championship, in which leaders Warwickshire are in a dominant position against relegation-threatened Surrey at Guildford.

Essex will be hoping to press home their advantage at Leicester, where they have the home side in trouble after New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams smashed the fastest century of the season, racing to his 100 off 80 balls. Today. Frizzell County Championship (11.0), Div 1 - Cheltenham: Lancashire 362-8 v Gloucs. Guildford: Warwicks 390-5 v Surrey. Worcester: Worcs v Middlesex. Div 2 - Leicester: Essex 322, Leics 64-3. Riverside: Derbyshire 195, Durham 64-6. Scarborough: Yorkshire 296, Somerset 58-1.
