Impressive Tim just likes it hot

13 April 2012

Tim Henman powered into the Australian Men's Hardcourt Championship quarter-finals with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over American Jeff Tarango in Adelaide today.

The British No1 and second seed continued his impressive build-up to the Australian Open following his 6-2, 7-6 victory over Greg Rusedski in the previous round.

World No10 Henman will now play Thomas Johansson tomorrow in the last eight after the Swede beat Germany's Christian Vinck 7-5, 6-3. He has beaten Johansson in both of their previous two encounters - in Basle in 1998 and Seoul in 1996.

Henman said: "When it's hot like this, it makes conditions pretty fast as well, and that suits me nicely. As for Johansson, he's obviously playing well here, I think we both fancy our chances."

Play on Centre and No1 Court at the Wimbledon Championships this June will now start at 1pm every day, except for the two finals which will remain at the traditional time of 2pm. Courts Two to 19 will continue to begin at noon with the gates open at 10.30am.
