Irish monitor O'Driscoll injury

12 April 2012

Ireland will continue to asses the fitness of skipper Brian O'Driscoll ahead of the team announcement for Saturday's World Cup clash with Georgia.

O'Driscoll hyper-extended his elbow towards the end of the 32-17 victory over Namibia and emerged for the post match press conference with his right arm in a sling.

In two other further injury concerns arising from a bruising Pool D encounter, fly-half Ronan O'Gara suffered bruising to the foot and prop Marcus Horan hurt his ribs.

An update on the trio's availability to face Georgia in Ireland's second Pool D match is expected on Tuesday when the team is unveiled in mid-afternoon.

Ireland head coach Eddie O'Sullivan said: "I think we're going to let Ronan and Marcus settle down. Their injuries don't seem to be too serious.

"Brian just hyper-extended his elbow and it seems to be more of a trapped nerve problem than anything else."
