Italians agonise

13 April 2012

Italy coach Giovanni Trapattoni has selection problems ahead of tomorrow's second-round match with South Korea.

With Fabio Cannavaro suspended and Alessandro Nesta doubtful with a foot injury, he may reorganise in central defence by pairing Paolo Maldini with Mark Iuliano.

But Trapattoni faces dilemmas throughout the team as he seeks to raise his side a level after the defeat against Croatia and often desperate 1-1 draw with Mexico that saw them edge through.

And not least up front, where he must decide whether to start with Alessandro Del Piero, the late goalscoring hero as a substitute against Mexico, or whether to opt for Filippo Inzaghi alongside Christian Vieri.
