Defensive approach: Guus Hiddink was criticised for last week’s tactics

Guus Hiddink has been told by Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to ignore the critics and continue to use defensive tactics against Barcelona.

Chelsea's players have come under fire since the goalless draw in the first leg of their semi-final at Barcelona.

With the Blues being the home team tomorrow and Barcelona under strength at the back due to Rafael Marquez's knee injury and with Carles Puyol suspended, the onus would normally be on them to go on the attack.

But Hasselbaink, who played for Chelsea between 2000 and 2004, said: "I don't think they should attack - I think that will be very dangerous. I don't think Chelsea will play very open.

"Barcelona can't change their game. You always know what you're going to get. They're going to play two wide and one down the middle.

"I think the criticism from the first leg only came from Spain and why? Because they didn't score and you want that to happen.

"That means you have done the job properly and Chelsea did that."
