Lamont ready for Williams

Scotland wing Rory Lamont knows all too well the dangers posed by New Zealand's Sonny Bill Williams and has issued a warning to his team-mates ahead of Saturday's meeting at Murrayfield.

The duo were team-mates at Toulon in France's Top 14 last season, before rugby league convert Williams returned to New Zealand, taking up a contract with the New Zealand Rugby Union and plying his trade for Canterbury.

"I'm looking forward to playing against him," said Lamont. "I haven't spoken to him at all, I'll just wait to see him on the pitch and try and avoid some of his big hits. He's a phenomenal tackler when he gets time to line guys up, so I've warned some of my team-mates to try to use a bit of footwork before running at him."

Williams was described as 'Superman' in the build-up to the Twickenham encounter, but Lamont is aware his former team-mate is new to the international scene.

"He certainly looks the part for Superman and he's got all the ability but he's still new to playing at this level," added Lamont.

"There's been a huge amount of media attention on Sonny. I think it could perhaps be quite hard for him to deal with the amount of attention he's getting, there's a huge amount of pressure.

"I know he'll just be trying to focus on his own performance and try to keep his place in the All Blacks team."
