McCarthy hails fighting spirit

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy praised the fighting qualities of his players as they twice came from behind to rescue a precious point in a 2-2 home draw with Norwich.

The Canaries led through former Wolves player Andrew Surman and then substitute Simeon Jackson, but goals from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and Ronald Zubar levelled matters for Mick McCarthy's side.

McCarthy said: "To come from behind twice, and the response they gave, I thought the players were great."

He added: "No-one has left anything on the pitch. They are a great bunch and we will march on and see what happens.

"We got off to the worse possible start, conceding a goal. They started well and had a couple more chances.

"When we got back into the game, we were on top at the end of the first half and continued that second half.

"They scored against the run of play and then at the end of it all, it was a bit crazy."

McCarthy took the bold decision to drop striker Kevin Doyle but Ebanks-Blake responded to his call-up in positive fashion.

He said: "Sylvan was great. He deserved to play. I'm sorry if I misled you all when I said I was putting my faith in Kevin Doyle (at the press conference).

"Sylvan already knew he was playing and it was the right decision. He played well and got his goal. It gives us healthy competition again for those spots up front."
