Megson: Spurs a wounded animal

Gary Megson fears his Bolton side could be the victims of a Tottenham backlash at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Spurs are on their knees after a woeful run of results which has left them bottom of the Barclays Premier League and put Juande Ramos on the brink. Defeat tomorrow is unthinkable for the under-fire Spaniard but Megson has some good news for his Tottenham counterpart.

"Tottenham are a wounded animal, everyone is criticising them and I'm sure that will galvanise them," said Megson.

"With the goings-on there it has made a difficult game even more difficult for us.

"Everyone is having their say about what Tottenham should and shouldn't be doing. The club is being backed into a corner and the players are having fingers pointed at them. That's going to make it hard for us."

Tottenham supporters are planning to protest against the club's board of directors - with chairman Daniel Levy and sporting director Damien Comolli expected to be the target of their fury.

Megson insisted: "This is the biggest game in the country this weekend.

"Chelsea are playing Liverpool, which is a huge game, but I've never seen as much focus on one game at this stage of the season as this Tottenham game.

"It's a lot of nonsense. The way Tottenham are going is not purely down to Juande Ramos. They won their first trophy (the Carling Cup) in a few years last season and everyone is dumping on the bloke.

"It's distasteful and as a fellow manager I wouldn't wish that on Ramos at all."
