Miller: Partnership no passing Fad

Kenny Miller is confident his partnership with James McFadden can get Scotland's World Cup qualification campaign off to a good start next month.

The Scots drew 0-0 with Northern Ireland at Hampden in their last warm-up match before they take on Macedonia and Iceland in their qualifying double-header.

"I felt we linked up well and both of us could have been on the scoresheet," said Miller. "If we get the nod in a couple of weeks, hopefully it will get better."

Miller was happy with his team's showing despite the disappointing outcome.

"It was another game under the boss and another positive performance," he said. "Yes the result was disappointing but we feel we should have won the game, and barring a couple of really good saves from their keeper we would have.

"But it was good preparation for the big one in the couple of weeks' time.

Manager George Burley was pleased with the workout and felt his side were just lacking a cutting edge.

"It was a good exercise," Burley said. "We were able to blood one or two new players. We had a look at some partnerships, passed it quite well at times.

"It was just a little bit of the cutting edge. We had one or two opportunities and you're looking to take them

"When they go down to 10 men, they'll sit in there and that's when you've got to take your chances. We certainly learned a lot. International football is not easy."
