More golf glory for Toms

13 April 2012

David Toms claimed his third title of the season and second in a row at the USPGA Tour's Michelob Championship.

Toms shot a three-underpar 68 at the Kingsmill Resort to hold off Kirk Triplett by a stroke and become the fourth player to win the event in consecutive seasons since it began in 1968.

Toms, 34, said: "I feel better now that I have been able to win a good many tournaments, so when I get in contention, I feel like I'm going to perform."

Only Tiger Woods (five) has as many titles this year as Toms.

Meanwhile, Bernhard Langer claimed his 39th European Tour win, and 11th on home soil, in the German Masters in Cologne.

Langer, 44, carded a final round 67 for a 22-under-par total of 266 and one stroke victory. It was his fourth win in the tournament he co-promotes and runs with brother Erwin.
