Murdoch takes charge again

13 April 2012

Wimbledon goalkeeping coach Stuart Murdoch is likely to stay in charge of team affairs for the game at Grimsby on Saturday because manager Terry Burton is still in hospital.

Burton has been under observation since Saturday morning because of suspected appendix trouble. He was expected to be released yesterday but according to a club spokesman has yet to be diagnosed and will remain in care.

Murdoch, who oversaw the 3-1 win over Stockport, said: "I have been a reserve manager before, so I do have some experience, but this is a team effort.

Fitness coach Jon Goodman and I worked together like we have done all season and Kenny Cunningham rallied the players. It was enjoyable and I'm prepared to do it again."

Murdoch visited Burton in hospital yesterday and will continue to liase with him on team matters.
