New Clarets caretakers as Davis leaves

Burnley have given director of youth development Martin Dobson and youth-team coach Terry Pashley responsibility for first-team affairs following the departure of previous caretaker boss Steve Davis.

First-team coach Davis has gone to Bolton to link up with former Clarets boss Owen Coyle, who was confirmed as Wanderers boss on Friday evening.

Dobson and Pashley will be assisted by club captain Steven Caldwell and acting captain Graham Alexander, with their first game set to be a trip to Old Trafford next Saturday.

The Turf Moor club confirmed on Sunday that Davis and goalkeeping coach Phil Hughes had left Burnley and it is anticipated they will now join Coyle's backroom staff at the Reebok Stadium.

A statement posted on www.burnleyfootballclub.com on Sunday read: "Burnley Football Club can today confirm that first-team coach Steve Davis and goalkeeping coach Phil Hughes have left Turf Moor.

"Both coaches are understood to be joining Owen Coyle's new management team at Bolton Wanderers.

"The officials of Burnley Football Club would like to place on record their thanks to Steve and Phil for their services to the club and contribution to our success."

Former Wanderers striker Coyle was confirmed as Gary Megson's successor at the Bolton helm on Friday evening after a compensation deal was finally agreed between the clubs.

After their match against the reigning Barclays Premier League champions, the Clarets take on Bolton on January 26 at the Reebok Stadium.
