Champion Mizuki Noguchi's final bid

Comeback trail: Mizuki Noguchi will run in March
10 April 2012

Mizuki Noguchi, the 2004 Olympic champion, will run her first marathon in more than four years next month in her bid to race at London 2012.

It was confirmed today the 33-year-old will take part in the Nagoya Women's Marathon on March 11, which is the final qualifier for Japan's team for the Games. Noguchi pulled out of last month's Osaka International Women's Marathon with a hamstring problem.

She has been plagued by injuries since her gold in Athens and was unable to defend her title in Beijing due to a back problem, which kept her out for two years.
