New Brit is handed Wimbledon pass

Johanna Konta, who became a British citizen last month, is one of eight home players awarded wild cards for Wimbledon.

The Australian-born 21-year-old has been handed direct entry into the draw along with Heather Watson, Laura Robson, Naomi Broady, James Ward, Jamie Baker, Josh Goodall and Oliver Golding.

The 2002 champion, Lleyton Hewitt, has been granted a wild card after dropping to No176 in the world.
