Pedersen reveals plastic cup attack

12 April 2012

Blackburn midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen has revealed he had a plastic beer cup thrown at him in the UEFA Cup game against Feyenoord in Rotterdam.

The incident happened in the 13th minute at the De Kuip Stadium when he shaped to take a throw-in.

He said: "I got beer in my face and had sticky eyes afterwards. It could have been worse but it should not happen. Of course you think what might have happened if it was something else, like a hard thing, but it was just plastic."

UEFA might feel obliged to investigate and Pedersen added: "It is up to them if they follow it up or not.

"But I am okay. There are no marks on me, just a bit of beer in my eyes."

Blackburn secured their passage into the knockout stages after picking up a hard-earned point from a 0-0 draw.
