Peslier in horror fall escape at Doncaster

French jockey Olivier Peslier miraculously escaped with only minor injuries after a horror fall before yesterday's Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster.

Peslier baled out moments before outsider Proud Linus smashed through the rails after careering to the start.

Peslier said: "I have grazed my hip and had two stitches in my left elbow. I was very lucky. I had no control."

The race was won decisively by Jeremy Noseda's Fleeting Spirit, who could join Nunthorpe Stakes winner Kingsgate Native as a two-year-old in the Prix de l'Abbaye.

Peslier will ride at Longchamp tomorrow when its Arc trials feature Manduro in the Prix Foy and Aidan O'Brien's Irish Derby winner Soldier of Fortune in the Prix Niel.

As well as four runners in the St Leger today, O'Brien saddles both hot favourite Yeats and Scorpion in the Irish St Leger at The Curragh.

Kieren Fallon rides Yeats and tomorrow partners Coolmore's unbeaten Myboycharlie, trained by Tommy Stack, in the National Stakes where his rivals include Rio De La Plata and New Approach.
