Newent were indebted to a superb performance from Jon Ralph who scored allthe points in the 17-14 win at Stroud against Marling.

The home side led7-0 at half time but Newent's spirited fightback led to a hat-trick of triesfrom the centre.

He converted one and despite Marling scoring a lateconverted try, the visitors held on and now visit Clifton College who beatBristol rivals Gordano 50-0.

Kingham Hill's smaller but more mobile packwon the day against Wheatley Park but two breakaway tries kept them ontenterhooks until they edged through 23-19.

Richard Seed, James Rowe andDominic Thompson scored the KHS tries and Thompson kicked two penalties anda conversion.
