Redknapp: Hammers unsettled Parker

Harry Redknapp insists West Ham are to blame for unsettling Scott Parker as he refused to rule out an improved offer for the midfielder.

Hammers co-chairman David Sullivan this week claimed he was "very angry" with Spurs boss Redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy for unsettling star player Parker by trying to buy him. But Redknapp is adamant Tottenham have done nothing wrong, suggesting West Ham making his approach public would have done more to affect the player's peace of mind.

"Who made it public that we made an offer?" said Redknapp, who revealed any decision to up Spurs' reported £7million offer would be down to Levy. "You can make an offer for a player if you want to. You can make an offer for anybody. I'm sure the chairman must have got some encouragement or he wouldn't have made an offer. So I'm not sure the full story has been told about that one."

He added: "The chairman wouldn't have made an offer unless he thought there was a chance that they wanted to do something."

Redknapp also confirmed he would still like to bring Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy to White Hart Lane but was far from certain a deal could be done.

"I like Craig Bellamy but I don't know if they would sell him," said Redknapp in the Guardian.

"The chairman deals with all the transfers. He asks me what I want and I tell him. I don't know where he's at with Bellamy, if anywhere."
