Relief for Lewington

Ray Lewington was today breathing more easily after his Watford team moved out of the bottom three with a 1-0 win over Bradford.

“We played without fear for a change and what a difference it made,” said the Watford manager.

“The first half was arguably the best 45 minutes since I’ve been in charge.”

Watford’s winner came on the hour from Scott Fitzgerald and Lewington said: “We sank back again for five minutes after the goal but we came out of it and emerged worthy winners.

“If we can beat Coventry at home tomorrow that’ll be five games unbeaten which is a big improvement.”
