Richmond severs ties with Leeds
Geoffrey Richmond has vacated his role as 'board advisor' to Leeds due to "personal and health reasons".
The former Bradford chairman played an integral role in aiding the consortium who took charge of the financially-crippled west Yorkshire club in a £22million deal last month.
However, fans expressed their displeasure at his involvement following the problems Bradford experienced during his tenure at Valley Parade.
A statement from Leeds read: "Leeds United Football Club has announced today that it is to part amicably with Board advisor, Geoffrey Richmond, with immediate effect.
"Geoffrey, for personal and health reasons, has reluctantly decided to concentrate his time and energy on his personal life. The board of Leeds United has accepted his decision and wish him all the very best for the future.
"Geoffrey played an important role as advisor during the sale of Leeds United to the consortium and the board would like to thank him for his untiring support during that period.
"The decision for Geoffrey to relinquish his consultant's role has the support of the Leeds United Board.
"Board director and Geoffrey's son David Richmond will take over responsibilities and duties with regards to all contract and transfer enquiries involving Leeds players."
