Robertson's news at 10

13 April 2012

Dean Robertson left no-one in any doubt who was the early leader on day one of the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Houghton GC near Johannesburg.

The Scot started at the 10th, and birdied the 11th, 12th, 15th, 16th and 18th to turn in five under. He then continued the blitz with birdies at the second, fourth, fifth, sixth and eighth to go 10-under and four shots clear with a hole to go.

England's Paul Eales fired a 66 to lie six-under and head the pack, which also includes Hampshire teenager Justin Rose, who finished fourth at The Open in 1998, former Ryder Cup star Paul Broadhurst and pre-tournament favourite Mark McNulty, who celebrated a win on the Wild Coast here last week.

Six-time Major winner Nick Faldo continued his revival and push for a place on the European team gunning for Ryder Cup glory at The Belfry in September with a four-under par 68.
