Ronnie O'Sullivan stormed to victory in the World Snooker Championship Final, dismantling Kyren Wilson 18-8 at The Crucible.

O'Sullivan fired a break of 96 to claim the single frame he required at the start of the evening session after a streak of seven in the afternoon saw him rise from a potential predicament at 10-8 and complete the most one-sided final win since his 2008 triumph over Ali Carter.

The victory sees O'Sullivan claim his sixth world crown and a record 37th ranking title, with the 44-year-old's talent and nerve proving far too much for Wilson to handle under the spotlight.

Sunday's action was in marked contrast to a tense opening day on Saturday, with O'Sullivan looking nervy as he carried a 10-7 lead overnight.

Wilson had rallied after going 8-2 down to cut O'Sullivan's lead to three frames, and cut that lead by two as he hit a break of 73 in the first frame on Sunday.

But while O'Sullivan was not at his scintillating best, he was not required to be, instead relying on his experience from that point onwards.

The veteran saw the momentum shift as Wilson made a series of mistakes, and duly rose to the pressure to take the next six frames without reply to lead 16-8.

Wilson cut a rueful figure as O'Sullivan took full advantage of his misses, ruthlessly collecting frames to teach the 28-year-old a harsh lesson: a match like this is as much about temperament as it is about talent.
